Has anyone tried outsourcing technical writing?

I have more technical documents to finish than I have time for, and I am starting to feel overwhelmed. A few people suggested outsourced technical writing, but I have never tried it before. I wonder if the final work still feels accurate and easy to understand. If you have experience with this, what went well, and what should someone be careful about?
